BIG big girl bed

Kyliana started sleeping in her new twin bed on saturday night. So far it's going great. Before she was coming into our room in the middle of the night and daddy would put her in bed with us. I'd normally sleep right through it until I got a nice kick in my back, at which time I would be too tired to do anything but push her closer to Vic haha!

She has been a little ill, though I'm not going to complain. Ky is a pretty healthy girl and didn't have to miss school for anything major in her (almost) 3 years. Usually it was a viral rash and she could return once the dr confirmed it. She had pinkeye once. The last time I had to take her out of school was Oct of 2007 when she got Hand, Foot and Mouth disease and it was only because she can't be there with a fever. Anyhow, Monday about 30 minutes after dropping her off they called me and said she had a fever. Not surprised. Only 4 kids (out of 10) were there Friday because the others were sick. Fortunately all Ky got was a fever and a yucky cough. But she's doing fine for the most part.

Today was a tad stressful. I woke up at 7 am to get ready for internship and school was cancelled, so day #3 of no internship (that's both good and bad). Today was supposed to be my last day at the middle school and monday I'm starting at a high school...slightly scared of that! Anyhow, I told Vic and shut off the alarm. I ended up getting to sleep in until 9:45!! I decided that because ALL the schools in the area were cancelled except for UT and BG (who later cancelled some classes) that I was NOT in the mood to drive Ky all the way to school and then have to go back and get her. So I called her off. As much as I could've used the entire day to myself, I did not want to drive in all that snow. Vic's grandfather's viewing was tonight, so he had to make it to Lima. 75 was closed for quite some time in Findlay, both North and South bound. They got even more snow than we did. He waited to go until later and made it safely, thank God. The funeral is tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow at 3 is my checkup and lovely glucose test. Vic was sad because he's going to miss the appointment. It's not a big deal to me because I went through the entire 1st pregnancy without anybody even caring to come to my appointments. Plus this one is going to be crappy because of having to wait an hour to get my blood drawn. But Vic called himself a deadbeat, which I hope was just a joke because he's never missed an appointment yet-including the pg test to verify. He even hung out for the pelvic exam! Anyhow, I'll have to update tomorrow or sometime after with the stats. Hopefully the weigh-in doesn't upset me like it did last time haha. My scale here is telling me I gained 1.5lbs in the last 3 weeks, so that's not bad. Hopefully theirs says the same! I'll be starting to go every 2 weeks now that I'm in trimester #3. Home stretch!! Hopefully that makes time fly. I think once I hit the end of February it should go by faster.

Mom seems to be having fun planning this diaper party thing. I hope people come to it, I just want to have fun with family and friends :) I'm also getting excited about planning Ky's first "friends" birthday party. She is too. She keeps telling me, while riding her bike, that she's going to her birthday party. So cute.

27 weeks.

So I'm 27 weeks now. I have my next appointment on Thursday the 29th. Then it'll be every 2 weeks for me. Guess that's a positive sign that I actually am getting closer, though it doesn't feel like it! Because my insurance only covers one ultrasound-that Vic barely saw-I've scheduled an appointment for Feb 6th to get a 3D ultrasound. That way if my midwife can't get another one out of insurance, Vic will have at least seen one. That and it'll be 3D, which I've never had.

I don't know how I'd feel if they said the baby is a boy. I mean, yeah that's what I wanted from the start, but I've had a while for this girl #2 thing to sink in and clothes are starting to be bought. I would have mixed emotions, that's for sure!

Kyliana is getting a brand new bed tomorrow...a twin bed! She is excited I think. I know I am because I'm ready to get rid of that POS toddler bed she's got. And my dad is coming out here for the first time since 12/16/06 (my graduation). I'm sure he'll be back in a couple months for graduation #2!! I can't wait for that.

Getting excited for Ky's 3rd b-day party. I'm pretty sure we're going to have a little "friends" party out here and invite all her friends from school. I'm looking into a dance studio that sounds perfect for this age. Also considering getting Ky into some sort of dance/tumbling thing to help her burn off some of this energy (and give mommy a little break). We'll see how it works out though.

I could've sworn I had more interesting stuff I was going to write, but I forgot I guess. That's all.

Oh yeah Dr's appt!

I forgot to update on my Dr appt. I gained 8 lbs in the last month...boo! But that only makes 9 total. However, I'm only 1 lb less than my highest weight while carrying Ky, so it's still sad for me. I just keep thinking of what I'll have to lose when this is over with :(.

Anyhow, I'm 25 weeks along and have to go back in 3 weeks to take my glucose test AGAIN! For those of you who didn't know...during my OB interview, where I basically just gave my medical history to a nurse and didn't even see my midwife, the nurse said I was at a higher risk for GD. Here's her logic: I'm right at the overweight mark...even though I'm still thin (this was her way of making it sound nicer I guess), which I don't get because my BMI is still in the normal range...well was pre-pregnancy anyways; I had an almost 8 lb baby....she was 7 lbs 9 oz! That's NORMAL! I was 8 lbs 12 oz, c'mon lady!; and my paternal grandfather was diabetic. So after doing research...NONE of these things put me at a higher risk for GD. I would have to be actually overweight with a higher BMI, have a 9lb or higher child prior to this pregnancy and have an immediate family member who was diabetic. Anyhow, since she thought I was at a higher risk I was ordered to take a GD test in my first trimester that came back normal.

Despite these results, I have to take one at 28 weeks regardless. BOO. My next appt is the 29th. Then I believe I start going every two weeks! I hope it flies by because I just picture it dragging with internship going on and all :(. I am dreading starting internship up again, but I'm so close to the end :). We also may be able to get a second ultrasound so Vic can actually see his first biological child in utero!

Basically we didn't know beforehand that they don't let more than one ADULT (no kids) back in the US room with you until the very end. So we had Ky with us and she wasn't allowed back so neither was he since he had to watch her. They told me the sex while I lied on the table by myself, so it made for a depressing time. Vic witnessed about 2 minutes of the US....a 45 minute US at that :(. So my midwife felt terrible when she heard the story because she didn't know that was the hospital's policy and said we might be able to work something out where we can have the insurance pay for a second one just for Vic ;)

Ok, that is all!

My ribs!

Ok so this yet-to-be-named child is doing some crazy stuff inside me. She hardly stops moving ever! I'm thinking she's stretching out and punching/kicking me in my ribs and also in my lower left abdomen by my hips. That's gotta be it. I know she's not likely to be as tall as Kyliana who is 38 freakin inches tall already! Wowza. I wonder if she'll have hair like Ky's or if it will be more coarse. Speaking of Ky's hair, something needs to be done with it! Her hair is so thick and I'm noticing it getting a LOT more tangled between baths (we typically only brush her hair after baths because it's easier when wet). Will baby #2 have more color than Ky? So many unknowns!

We got 10" of snow between yesterday afternoon and this afternoon. So Ky went outside and played for a bit while I snapped some pics.

I think this spring is going to be super busy. Vic's mom wants to throw me a baby shower! I didn't get any shower with Ky, so I'm excited. She asked if I want it in February or March, and that it has to be on a Saturday. She'll probably have it in Lima and a bunch of people I don't know well will be there. Good thing Vic plans to go too because it's all his family! There's no way I could have one giant shower with both the family there because we're all scattered over Ohio. I have family/friends in the Akron, Medina, Cleveland, Wellington, Sandusky and Toledo areas and Vic has family in Lima and Ft. Wayne areas. His family won't travel to mine and vice versa, so looks like we'll be the ones travelling! Anywho I will probably have Ky's b-day party on her birthday at my mom's house and hope that family and friends will come. So that's the first weekend of March. I also wanted to do a party here in Toledo for her daycare friends, which I'd do the following weekend. So that would leave the weekend after that for a baby shower I suppose. HOWEVER, my mom and I discussed having a diaper party at her place for my side of the family since I have baby stuff already and don't need a ton....but you can never have too many diapers, right?! OH and Vic's mom is getting us the crib! I had a very old crib given to me with Ky and it was not in great condition, so I gave it away. It'll be nice to have a 4-in-1 crib that we can keep for a LONG time. If my dad ever brings his happy heiny out here, Ky can have her new big girl bed and we can get rid of the crap toddler bed she has. Ok back to the topic....

So the way I see it, that's all the weekends in March. Plus I know one of Ky's daycare friends plans to have a birthday party for her daughter who was born on the 29th. Then April...well I don't want to be traveling much in April. I had Ky at 37.5 weeks, so you just never know. Though, my mom is having Easter at her house this year. I want to go, but I don't want to be 90 miles away from my hospital. Though I'm pretty sure I could make it there without a problem, I don't think I'd want to be in the car if I was in pain. Plus they say consecutive labors are faster than the 1st. With Ky coming in 8 hours, I'm not risking it. I feel bad but I think we have to miss Easter at G-ma's this year. Vic's birthday is the 19th April and baby is due April 22. Whew! Guess I need to relax every weekend until then haha! Oh and sometime in there my work is throwing me a small shower. It'll only be like 7 women there, so it's nothing big. I'm glad I actually get a shower :)

Speaking of Ky's b-day party...I'm not sure on a theme. Her 1st b-day was princess, her 2nd was Backyardigans (though nobody came due to weather so we have unblown balloons and like-new decorations), but she's wanting a Dora party. She got like Dora everything for Christmas, so I'm all Dora'd out, but if that's what she wants...

So right now I'm in the process of organizing my photobucket account and putting all the Kyliana pictures in a single folder for each year. Much easier that way. I'm also uploading all the pics for scrapbooks onto walmart.com so I can get them printed out and get started. I'm way behind and could be doing this stuff instead of being so lazy!

Ok I'm done for now! Back to organizing pictures :)

Hello!

Sooo it's been a long time coming, but I broke down and decided to start a blog. Sometimes I really want to write but never do, maybe this will motivate me.

I'll start with an update on Ky. She's getting closer and closer to turning 3! Already! 2 months from tomorrow will be her 3rd birthday. I always thought those people who said "they grow so fast" were annoying before I had kids, but now it just makes me plain old sad because it's the truth! I don't know her exact measurements but she's about 35 lbs and 38 inches tall! I've got a tall girl on my hands huh? Kyliana is a smart little girl. She's practicing her opposites and knows all of the simpler ones. She's got a terrific memory and knows a million songs (or so it seems) and when she runs out because she sings about 70% of her day, she'll make up her own. Just give her a topic and she's off! She has been potty trained since April 08 so since 25 months. She talks an insane amount and says such grown up things. Knows all her colors, shapes, body parts, alphabet, numbers, she's trying to color in the lines, drawing shapes, speaks in complete and proper sentences, has a huge imagination when playing and telling stories, has teriffic manners (she'll remind you if you forget yours, so watch it!) etc, etc, etc. It's actually quite entertaining :) Hopefully you've seen videos of her so she's made you smile :) I'm not sure what else to write, you have to know her to get the idea!

She's finally accepted that she has a baby SISTER on the way not a brother (as have I). Although she has decided she wants to name her Gannon-which is the name of her best friend's baby brother. Glad she's gotten on top of the naming situation because we sure haven't! Ky no longer asks if we can go back and get a baby brother instead of a sister. Which, as humurous as it was, I was wishing I could for a while too! We made our first big baby purchase which was a sit n stand stroller that was about $60 cheaper at the consignment store than brand new...good deal! Though everyone keeps saying we get to save money because we're having a girl, it's not like we have nothing to purchase. We have no crib, car seats or clothes up to 18 months. Everyone I knew that was pregnant had girls so I gave away or sold Ky's old clothes. AT least I get to have a little bit of fun shopping for a few brand new things, right?

Me, I'm starting to get uncomfortable. Yes. I know I'm not huge, but geeze o petes do my bones hurt already! I'm even starting to get my waddle on. I am 24 weeks now...which is when I first started showing with Ky, so I'm not too much bigger this time around, thank goodness. Hopefully I don't get new stretchmarks, but I got lucky with the few I got from Ky so I'm sure this time around I'll look like a roadmap haha!

We had a great Christmas, I adored watching Ky open her presents and say "oh this is cute!" It was the first time she really got the concept. Being the little princess that she is, she made sure all the wrapping paper was off the gift before she looked at it. She got super spoiled this year and we had to pack up some toys in tubs and throw them in the basement...and I still don't have enough room haha!

Everything else is well. I'm starting up internship again next week. Part of me is not excited though. I just wish I was done and could relax, this break has spoiled me. Though at the same time, I couldn't do the stay at home mom thing. I'm so unstructured myself and passed that on to Ky with being home with her for 2 weeks. Plus the child doesn't do anything at home that she does at school-nap, clean up without arguments, even eat certain foods! I have to try to knock out the rest of my internship hours for the most part by the beginning of April. I'm halfway through, so I have to bust my ass. As long as I have my direct hours in, I should be ok, indirect are easy to get. I'm just worried about going into labor early. Ky was due 3/23 and showed up 3/7. I'm due April 22 now and I'd like to go early but I don't want to risk not completing my internship! If all goes well I'll be spending my mothers day walking across the stage to get my second (and final!) college degree. Yaaaay for a Masters :) But after that I get the joy of trying to find a job to hold me over until I find my career. I do NOT want to stay in Toledo, but will have to until Vic is done. He can get a job anywhere with a degree in a medical field, me...well that's a way different story.

Anyhow, I'll stop now and save the rest for another entry!
